Residential Homestead Exemptions
Homestead tax exemptions can save you thousands of dollars over the course of your mortgage. For more information on Residential Homestead Exemptions, visit the Texas Comptroller’s website.
How do you apply? Simply print and fill out the form, and mail it to your county’s Appraisal District between January 1st and April 30th.
Beginning in 2011, in order to apply for a Residential Homestead Exemption, you must supply with the Appraisal District not only with your completed application form, but also a copy of your Driver’s license (or Texas ID card) and your vehicle registration. Both documents must reflect the street address of the property for which you are requesting the homestead exemption.
